This is a high quality female socket kit The socket is marine grade and is weather and UV resistant. The cap seals the front of the socket, should water get in, the socket is self bailing. The body is nylon plastic for strength and lightweight. The contacts are nickel plated over brass. The socket is vibration resistant, unlike less expensive versions. It requires an 1 1/8″ hole for mounting and has .250 quick male spade type quick connectors. The sealing washer goes between the socket and the panel to insure a waterproof seal and to prevent loosening from vibration. Rated at 150 watts (12 amps) at 12 volts DC up to 15 amps peak. Weight 1oz. This socket draws no power when not in use so it can’t run your battery down.
It can be mounted against a panel with the retaining nut for panel thickness up to 1-1/4″. For thicker panels use the mounting plate.
Works with any standard cigarette lighter plug or lockable marine plug. Check my other listings if you need a locking plug. A locking plug looks like a regular male lighter plug but when twisted in this socket can not be pulled out easily, unless twisted again.
All socket installations should be fused. The waterproof fuse holder provided, is place in series with the positive lead from your battery or power source to protect the circuit. It has a 14 gauge wire loop.
