The locking socket is marine grade and is weather and UV resistant and is made of heavy nylon plastic. The socket opening is sealed with a cap and the wire terminals are protected by a protective contact boot/ cover. The contacts are nickel plated on brass. The socket is vibration resistant, unlike less expensive versions. It requires an 1 1/8″ hole for mounting and has .250 quick male connectors. It can be mounted against a panel with the retaining nut up to 1-1/4″ thick or for a thicker panel with the compression plate. The socket is rated at 150 watts (12 amps), peak 15 amps at 12 V. Draws no power when not in use, so it can’t run down your battery.
The locking plug is also marine grade, weather / UV resistant and vibration resistant when locked in the socket assisted by the rubber seals and locking mechanism. A locking plug looks like a regular male lighter plug but when twisted in this socket can not be pulled out, unless twisted again. The plug has nickle contacts and rubber seals, screw wire connections, an internal fuse, an LED power indicator and is rated at 8 amps.
The fuse holder is a Littlefuse nickel plated brass contact waterproof rated at 20 amps and comes with a 15 amp fuse. The 18 inch wire leads is 16-14 AWG.
